with a memorial at sea
A simple, respectful ceremony
Our experienced crew are on hand to help you say farewell to a loved one with a peaceful memorial service at sea. We guarantee quality service so you can relax and enjoy a special day, as you celebrate the life of your loved one and a memorable occasion with family and friends.

What to expect
Prior to departure
Prior to departure from the Fremantle Fishing Boat Harbour, our skipper will brief passengers on our safety procedures.
Departure
The boat will set off for an agreed-upon position just a short cruise from Fremantle Fishing Boat Harbour.
Upon arrival, the vessel’s motor will be turned off to allow us to float in a peaceful atmosphere for quiet contemplation.
If your loved one was a mariner or just loved the sea, we can perform a traditional mariner’s ceremony. When arriving at the requested position the vessel circles to the left, meaning “turning back the hands of time”.

The ceremony
To signal the start of the ceremony, your chosen music can be Blue Toothed from your phone to our sound system.
We leave the ceremony up to you, but we can offer some guidance on format if required.
A crew member will ring the ship’s bell eight times which is a nautical tradition to signify that a sailor has “finished his or her final watch”.
On the chiming of the last bell, ashes and flowers or wreaths are tossed into the water, to indicate the last act of letting go. As the ashes and flowers begin their new journey, carried by the current forever.
Return to dock
Once the memorial is complete, the vessel will circle the ashes to the right, signifying that “time and life go on”. The navigational coordinates of the site will be recorded by the Captain of the vessel, so that you can revisit the exact location in the future to remember and reflect.
The boat will head back to the Fremantle Fishing Boat Harbour, where passengers will be assisted to disembark. Time permitting, we could do a short cruise first, so that family and friends can have a drink, chat, and share memories of the deceased loved one.
